The Asia Pacific Heart Rhythm Society ("APHRS", "we", "us") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose and protect personal data when you use the APHRS mobile app (the "App"), our website aphrs.org (the "Website") and our related services, including membership, scientific sessions and education programmes (together, the "Services").
We are based in Singapore and handle personal data in line with the Personal Data Protection Act 2012 of Singapore ("PDPA") and other data protection laws that apply to you.

2. Personal data we collect
Data you give us
- Account and membership details: name, email address, password, postal address, date of birth, country, membership type.
- Professional details: title, specialty, institution, position, professional qualifications.
- Event and education details: congress registrations, abstract submissions, session and course enrolment, certificates.
- Communications: messages you send us through the contact form, email or the App.
Data collected automatically when you use the App
- Device and technical data: device model, operating system, app version, language, IP address.
- Usage data: screens viewed, features used, crash reports and performance data.
- Push notification token, if you allow notifications.
Data from third parties
- Payment confirmation from our payment providers when you pay on the Website. We do not receive or store your full card number.
We do not ask for patient data. Please do not enter any information that could identify a patient in the App or Website.
3. How we use your personal data
- Create and manage your account and membership, including renewals.
- Give you access to member content, e-learning, publications and event information.
- Process registrations for scientific sessions, courses and fellowship programmes.
- Send you service messages, such as membership reminders and event updates.
- Send you news and newsletters where you have agreed to receive them. You can opt out at any time.
- Answer your enquiries and provide support.
- Keep the Services secure, prevent fraud and fix technical problems.
- Understand how the App is used so we can improve it.
- Meet our legal, accounting and regulatory obligations.
We rely on your consent, or on another basis permitted by law, such as performing our agreement with you or meeting our legal obligations.
4. Who we share your data with
We do not sell your personal data. We share it only with:
- Service providers who help us run the Services, such as hosting, email delivery, payment processing (including PayPal), analytics and crash reporting.
- Event organisers, congress secretariats and partner societies, when needed to run an event or programme you register for.
- Professional advisers, such as auditors and lawyers.
- Authorities, when required by law.
Our service providers may use your data only to provide services to us and must protect it.
5. Tracking and advertising
The App does not show advertising and does not track you across other companies' apps or websites.
6. International transfers
Our members are across the Asia-Pacific region, and our service providers may process data outside your country, including in Singapore. When we transfer personal data outside Singapore, we take steps to make sure it receives protection comparable to the PDPA.
7. How long we keep your data
We keep personal data only as long as we need it for the purposes above:
- Account and membership data: for as long as your account is active, and 2 years after it ends.
- Payment and accounting records: 5 years, or as required by law.
- Usage and crash data: 14 months.
We then delete or anonymise it.
8. How we protect your data
We use reasonable security measures, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), access controls and secure hosting. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your data and will notify you and the relevant authorities of a data breach where the law requires it.
9. Your choices and rights
Subject to applicable law, you can:
- Access the personal data we hold about you.
- Correct inaccurate or incomplete data.
- Withdraw your consent. This may affect the services we can provide.
- Unsubscribe from newsletters using the link in any email.
- Turn off push notifications in your device settings.
- Ask us to delete your account and personal data.

10. Deleting your account
You can delete your account at any time:
- In the App: go to Profile > Settings > Delete account, which opens our Contact Us page.
- Online: submit a request through our Contact Us page at https://aphrs.org/contact-us with the subject "Account deletion" and your registered email address.
We will delete your account and related personal data within 30 days, except records we must keep by law, such as payment records.
11. Children
The Services are intended for healthcare professionals and are not directed at anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the new version on this page with a new "Last updated" date and, for significant changes, notify you in the App or by email.
